Lame Ducks Sell Out Waxhaw

September 24, 2025 by Richard Daunt

The Olivia project in Waxhaw was forced through last night by three lame duck commissioners. They approved 302 apartments, even lowering the town’s parking standards to please the developer.

Residents United, Commissioners Divided

Citizens filled the room and spoke out against the plan. Commissioners Wedra and Daunt stood with them. Wedra moved to deny the project. Daunt demanded an explanation for approval.

The lame duck trio ignored both. They struck down the motion, dodged questions, and approved the project without a single clear reason.

No Logic, No Accountability

When asked to explain their vote, the three stayed silent. They gave Waxhaw no justification. Instead, they rubber-stamped another dense development with weaker parking rules.

Public Opinion Is Crystal Clear

Earlier in the day, WCNC’s Walker Lawson visited bars and restaurants across town. He could not find a single supporter of the project. Waxhaw residents are united against it.

Change Is Coming

This betrayal won’t stand forever. New leadership is on the horizon. Candidates Mike De Iulio, Dan Farris, and John Gemignani—The Waxhaw Wall 2.0—are ready to put residents first and stop reckless approvals like Olivia.
